I built a job-hunting Skill: want to, can, fit

我做了个求职 Skill:更关注想去/能去/适合
TL;DR
  • I turned the job screening, research, and application prep I kept doing while trying to move into AI PM this year into an open-source Agent Skill: Roleward Job Hunting.
  • It doesn’t just check whether your experience matches. It also looks at whether you want the role, whether the hiring side can make sense of your background, whether location and visa allow it, and whether the role is still open, then gives a “worth pursuing / verify first / pass” call with reasons.
  • I insist that it returns 0 roles if nothing is worth a look, and it doesn’t auto-apply: the final call deserves a human, and applying precisely beats applying a lot.

Over the past little while I’ve shared the piano sheet music simplifier and Reflection Companion. Today is the third open-source Skill: Roleward Job Hunting.

This one has the most to do with my own job search this year.

I’ve been trying to move toward AI PM all year. I’ve gone through a lot of JDs and spent a lot of time screening roles, researching them, and revising application materials.

Some roles match my past experience well but aren’t where I want to go next. Others look like I fall a little short of the requirements, yet might be worth a try.

Then there’s whether the hiring side can make sense of my background, whether practical things like location and visa allow it, and whether the role is actually still open.

So I turned this work I kept repeating into an Agent Skill.

Based on your experience and career direction, it can find a small number of roles worth your attention. You can also hand it a JD directly to analyze.

For each role it gives a “worth pursuing / verify first / pass” recommendation, along with the reasons. Once you decide to apply, it helps work out how to position your application and prepare your resume and other materials, and you can log the results of your applications afterward.

There’s one rule I hold to pretty firmly: if it doesn’t find enough roles worth a look this time, returning 0 is fine. There’s no need to pad things out with a pile of links. I also didn’t build auto-apply, because I still think the final check is a point where a person should step in, review, and decide. Applying precisely is better than applying a lot. You need to know for yourself where you’re taking yourself.

It’s still in Public Alpha. The setup that’s been fully tested is running it with a local Coding Agent (Codex, Claude Code).

The images include an example of a role assessment, plus how to use it right now.

If you’re also looking for work, especially if you want to switch industries or directions, I’d love for you to try it on a real situation. I’d also really like to know where it gets things wrong, what it misses, or which parts feel clunky to use.
