Four cafés in Chiang Mai for working

旅居清迈,4家适合办公的小店
TL;DR
  • I found four good places to work from in Chiang Mai — The Pagoda Cafe, Dreamtime Cafe, Monsoon Tea Wat Ket and fimue — each paired with a lunch spot nearby.
  • My routine is working in a café in the morning and having lunch right after, so when I pick a place, good food nearby matters as much as a comfortable space.
  • The biggest surprise was fimue in Nimman. I didn’t expect much, but the space is comfortable and you can stay for hours; the only downside is the occasional loud conversation about “business” at the next table.

2–4/ 📍The Pagoda Cafe

It’s inside a resort hotel. The seats in the café and the walk down to the lake are both lovely, and it’s quiet.

There are places to eat next door (yes, my routine is a café in the morning followed by lunch, so having both close together matters).

If you want something a bit fancier: ทับปิง By อันจะกิน

If you want something more local: ส้มตำโรงปลาแดก (สาขาป่าแดด)

5–6/ 📍 Dreamtime Cafe

A comfortable wooden building, with lots of separate spaces upstairs and downstairs to choose from; the tables and chairs are at heights that work well for working.

Vegetarian lunch: เจนุสนธิ์ เชียงใหม่ (extremely cheap)

7–8/ 📍 Monsoon Tea Wat Ket

I stayed much longer than I planned. The space is comfortable, there are few people, and the tea is OK too.

For lunch you have to walk a bit further south, and I wouldn’t recommend it

But there was some food for the soul I really liked, and I recommend it: La Luna Gallery, a small two-floor gallery in a converted private house. The ground floor recently had Give to Gain, for international women 2026; not many works, but ones I liked.

9–10/ 📍 fimue

From Ping River I went south to north, and now west, finally reaching busy Nimman. I hadn’t expected much from the cafés here, but fimue still surprised me: a comfortable space where you can work for a long time.

If I really had to name a downside, it’s probably the occasional “city slickers” next to you talking loudly about “business.”

Not a big deal

Lunch is right next door: Khao Tom Baht Diao ข้าวต้มบาทเดียว, a good-value choice in Nimman, recommended by a former local landlord.

Transform the uploaded photo into a quiet minimalist black-ink line sketch on an off-white textured paper background.

Use the original photo only as a composition reference. Redraw the entire scene as a simple hand-drawn interior sketch: the table, drink, croissant, sofa, windows, plants, ceiling lines, chair, and small architectural details.

The drawing should look like a delicate personal sketchbook page: thin uneven black pen lines, loose proportions, slightly naive hand-drawn style, minimal shading, no color fill, lots of empty space, airy and understated.

Keep the mood calm, poetic, intimate, Scandinavian / Japanese inspired, like a quiet journal drawing of a cafe corner.

Add small handwritten text in a delicate, irregular, lowercase style: “{}”

The final image should feel like a hand-drawn memory, not a realistic photo.
